As a Consultant Educational Psychologist I work primarily with and on behalf of individual young people and their families. I work with children and young people where they or their families feel that something is a barrier to their learning or wellbeing. Sometimes this may be a specific kind of learning or developmental difficulty like an Autistic Spectrum Condition, or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Dyslexia or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Sometimes it may be a barrier which is harder to define, like difficulties with social interaction or communication, or becoming very withdrawn. With over twenty years of experience as an EP I have experience across the full range of developmental needs and difficulties.
I will discuss the most appropriate ways of working with and on behalf of your family, whether this is an individual assessment, an developing an appropriate intervention or offering ongoing support. I will always work in partnership with your child’s school or college where this is appropriate, including follow up support to implement appropriate strategies and interventions, as part of the holistic assessment and intervention process.
Many families ask for my involvement to support them in understanding their child’s Special Educational Needs, and this often includes contributing to an Education, Health and Care Assessment and Plan, and in evaluating and reviewing the Plan.
As a senior Educational Psychologist with extensive experience within the LA context, and also within the Tribunal context I am well placed to support parents through this complex SEN process.
